G’day! What a few days in my world! And yours, as we are all on this incredible planet together amidst the incredible beauty - and the sudden contrasting eruption of chaos! It’s as if the Master card dealer has thrown the deck of cards into the air which must be picked up off the ground and reshuffled. Earth seems to be spinning faster and faster as news of events and new social regulations constantly hammer home the message of a health and financial situation which is affecting us all, either directly or indirectly! The resulting stress could easily confuse us, like the deer on the road at night in the previous blog, paralyzed by the headlights of the oncoming car.   The uncertainly of this global situation, caused by its volatility, intensity, and speed, has caused widespread confusion and fear. The immediate emotional reaction we may feel is a natural response of self-preservation. It has been a shock for most people, which can cause stress and develop into ten...

G'day! I hope this finds you well! Do you ever drive at night on country roads? It has sometimes led to a variety of experiences for me, ranging from fun - as with a mother skunk or javelina shepherding their young along or across the road - to potential disaster. . . or even death. Heightened vigilance is an important safety measure. Nocturnal animals like kangaroos and deer are always a concern, depending on my travels.(A white-tailed buck deer pictured) On one such occasion many years ago, I was driving along the winding road along the St. Regis River in western Montana with my father as my companion. It was very late at night with little traffic as we headed down through the mountains from Lookout Pass bordering with Idaho. My '67 Pontiac GTO purchased but a few months earlier was my joy, which I liked to test it's performance qualities and limitations. The driving lights I installed could light the country-side well ahead, giving me confidence enough to d...

Hello again! How did you go with the quiz on Blog #2?  Was 'body' your answer? Not correct, but our bodies depend on the 'answer' for life. . . it's our breath! Isn't there something magical about the fact that we begin and end our lives with just one breath. in an instant! And that we only take one at a time, providing both the oxygen and life force to sustain life . . . approximately 22,000 times a day for most people! Virtually all of that activity goes on without most of us even being conscious of it!      Attention to breath naturally becomes apparent when we find it difficult to breathe - as in a physical activity like running, or perhaps a health issue such as emphysema. Athletes learn to enhance their performance mentally and physically by consciously training and controlling the breath. Meditators, yogis, and healers likewise use conscious breathing  exercises in order to relax, heal, or empower body, mind and spirit.   ...

Quick Quiz: What is my most valuable possession? What is yours? I'll give you a few clues to mine.   1. I took possession soon as I entered the world as we know it.   2. I go to bed with it and wake up with it - every day.   3. I take it with me everywhere I go.   4. I consider it to be 'sacred' - although sometimes I fail to fully appreciate it.   5. Lack of it makes the appreciation grow.   6. I'd be lost without it - in fact I'd die without it!   7. Your answers for you are probably the same. Got it? Go to the chapter following Wellness in my book D-Tour - (page 169) for the answer. That will be the expanded magical topic in my next blog. For now, take three deep breaths, relax, close your eyes - and think about something that feels good! The ability to do that simple exercise can distract our busy mind from thinking about things we have no control over which saves a great deal of stress. If that doesn't put the monkeys back in t...

Greetings! I hope this year, already propelling at a great rates of knots, is heading in a good direction for you! It is a LEAP year! Last year was a giant leap for me! Will this year be another one? This is my first blog, so I will start off with introducing myself, the focus of this endeavour, and why I’ve decided to invest my time and energy into this creation. My name is Greg(ory) Wirt. I answer to any one of the possible combinations; or Wirty. Born in the incredible state of Montana at a time that synchronized perfectly for participation in a war going on half way around the world in Southeast Asia. Which gives a pointer to my age for some of you insuppressible sleuths. A western Montana upbringing gave me a great appreciation for the beautiful world of Nature that surrounded me. After serving two years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and two years afterwards attaining an associate degree in computer science near Seattle, I went looking for work and adventure...
